“Mobile devices will soon be used by more people than the desktop and laptop” – Gartner Research
As smartphones become more popular, developers are facing many different challenges. For example, with mobile devices, testing is getting harder and harder to manage. Apps that are not tested thoroughly enough will be removed from App stores once word spreads they are filled with bugs.
Each with their own slew of OS versions and set of technologies makes the testing process more complicated and confusing (e.g. duplication of test cases, additional devices required and sometimes more testers).
In the mobile development process, lacking are essential tasks such as maintaining up-to-date bug information and tracking to ensuring correct build distribution and test case acceptance info which are essential to success.
Increased frequency of version releases translates to increased confusion between the testing team and the need for proper and thorough testing.
The ability to track all testing sessions in real-time regardless of device or platform.
No ability to provide the tester with a tool enabling them to provide precise and detailed bug information while on the go.
Ensuring that no unwanted builds are available to test, and access to review build history and associated test results.
The fact that Mobile App Development firms do not have in-house testing staff only makes the challenges greater.
No app can ever be 100% bug-free, but as a developer you should be seeking more collaborative ways to test in your drive for efficiency and an app that can withstand the demands of the modern mobile user.
