Connect / register device

  1. Ubertesters hub installation for iOS

    Install Ubertesters for iOS

    • Open the https://beta.ubertesters.com link from your mobile device and click ‘Install Ubertesters for iOS’. The Ubertesters app will be installed on your device. Click on the Ubertesters icon and launch the app on your device;

    The installation instructions for the Apple devices with iOS 9 on-board include the additional steps. Now the testers will get the following pop-up message when installing the Ubertesters hub app for the first time:

    To ‘trust’ the developer, please follow the steps below:

    • Go to Settings > General > Profiles in your device;

    • Select the developer certificate in the ‘Enterprise app’ section;

    • Press ‘Trust … Apps on this iPhone’;

    • Select “Trust”.

    Once done, you’ll be able to launch the app and proceed with Ubertesters hub installation. At the end of the process, you’ll get the following message:

    Double-click on home screen and remove Ubertesters from the list of active apps.

    • You will see the sign-in page. Sign-in by using your e-mail address and password. In case you are not registered yet, you can do it by filling out the short form – enter your First name, Last name, Email, Password and Password Confirmation;

    • Install Provisioning profile. You will be taken to the ‘Install Profile’ screen. Please accept the configuration profile by clicking the ‘Install’ button; if you have a device protection password, you will need to enter it as requested.

    • Once the profile is installed, your device details will be automatically received by the system and you are ready to start testing.

    When the provisioning profile is installed, you can remove its icon (the black one) from your iOS device.

    Install your app

    • Open the Ubertesters app on your device, choose ‘Projects’ on the top bar, click on the specific project and then click ‘Install’. The icon of the newly installed app should will appear.

    Install Ubertesters for Android

    • When you are redirected to the installation page (https://beta.ubertesters.com), click ‘Install Ubertesters for Android’. The Ubertesters app will be installed on your device. Click on the Ubertesters icon and launch the app on your device;

    • Click OK when you are asked ‘Do you want to keep the Ubertesters.apk anyway?’ After that, the .apk will be downloaded, – install it and launch.

    Make sure you have allowed installation of Ubertesters apk: go to Settings > Security or Settings depending on your device, and set a check mark on ‘Unknown sources. Allow installations of non-Market apps’;

    Once the app is installed, the following pop-up will be displayed:

    Click on ‘Ok’ to proceed.
    You will be redirected to ‘Apps with Usage Access’ settings.

    Set the permissions to ‘On’. In the appeared pop-up ‘Allow access?’ select ‘Ok’

    Now you can launch the Ubertesters hub and login using your Ubertesters account credentials.

    Install your app

    • Open the Ubertesters app on your device, choose ‘Projects’ on the top bar, click on the specific project and then click ‘Install’. The icon of the newly installed app should will appear.

    • When your app is installed, you are ready to start the testing process. Launch your app and use our Bug submission tool to report issues and crashes.

  3. Account device list

    It is possible to check the list of connected devices, their software and hardware specifications in Ubertesters web account.

    • Follow the link http://beta.ubertesters.com from your laptop or desktop and log in;

    • Click on ‘Devices’ at the top;

    • Check the list of connected devices in the ‘Active’ tab;

FAQ

What is Ubertesters hub?

Ubertesters hub is the system app required for OTA distribution of your tested apps among the testers and reporting issues and crashes. It can be installed on your device by accessing the link http://beta.ubertesters.com

Why I cannot install the Ubertesters hub on my Android device?

Please make sure you’ve allowed the installation of non-Market apps by enabling ‘Unknown sources’ option in your device security settings.

Why am I getting ‘Can’t open the file’ on my Android device when trying to open the downloaded apk file?

This error sometimes happens for all Android devices if you open the file from ‘Downloads’. Please access File Manager (you can install ES File Explorer File Manager, for example) open the file from there.

Why do I have two Ubertesters icons on my iOS device?

The white icon ico-white-uber is the Ubertesters hub itself, that is used for the OTA distribution of your builds.

The black icon ico-black-uber is just a bookmark to the Ubertesters app installation web page. You can delete it when the hub is installed already, as it will not be required further.

What should I do when getting 'Untrusted Enterprise Developer' pop-up in iOS?

‘Untrusted Enterprise Developer’ is the pop-up which is displayed when you are trying to install any custom enterprise app on your iOS 9 device.

You will be asked to ‘trust’ the Enterprise developer certificate during the first time installation of the Ubertesters hub.

It is possible to ‘trust’ the certificate in the following way:

Go to Settings > General > Profiles or Profiles & Device Management;

Select the developer certificate in the “ENTERPRISE APP” section;

Press “Trust  … Apps on this iPhone”;

Select “Trust”.
