Kate, Ubertester: “Work with passion and don’t limit your imagination!”

Kharkov, a beautiful Ukrainian city, is a center of historical and geographical area of Ukraine and one of the most prolific centres of higher education and research of Eastern Europe. It’s also one of the most competitive outsourcing regions in Ukraine due to the extensive talent pool of IT professionals.

Two years ago, Kate, an outstanding QA expert from this great R&D center, joined the ranks of professional Ubertesters.

Kate is 27 years old. She attended National Technical University “Kharkov Politechnical Institute” with a focus, and specialty, in “System programming.” After graduating from university, she worked as a QA for many different companies for 1.5 years. 2 years ago Kate joined Ubertesters.

“I like testing, especially testing games. I feel as though I’m a free spirit during exploratory testing, as I can find and reproduce blinking bugs. I also like to use automation in order to increase my performance.” – says Kate.

We asked Kate seven questions that we and some of our clients wanted to know.

Ubertester Tells: Interview with Kate from Ukraine

Kate, what was the most exciting project you had in your Ubertesters QA career?

This was an application that worked with mobile phone cameras. You have an array of words with different topics, take a picture with the selected word as the subject, then other players try to guess the word based on what you photograph.

What is the most horrifying/bizarre bug you ever encountered?

The most horrifying bug is the one that leads to the freezing of a mobile phone and the crashing of an application.

What is a daily habit that you developed in your life as a result of your profession and found to be really useful? What change did it bring?

One of my daily habits is studying English. Ubertesters was one of the reasons that pushed me to study English more industriously; as a result, I watch movies, listen to music and try to read books in English.

What are the main benefits of working with Ubertesters?

I got great, hands-on experience of testing different kinds of applications, as well as got to practice my English skills. Ubertesters has a very good team, and I enjoy communicating with them.

What are the characteristics of a bad software tester?

A bad software tester is careless, lazy, and always in a hurry to half-heartedly complete tasks.

What does your ideal work place look like?

Any place can be ideal if you work in a good team with good persons.

What advice would you like to give to testers who are just starting their career in Ubertesters?

Work with passion, don’t be afraid to try new things, and don’t limit your imagination!
